Waterbury Silverbacks Eliminate Hamden Miners 10-6 On Back Of Clutch Display From Michael Fiatarone

Michael Fiatarone had been excellent all season for the Waterbury Silverbacks and today in an elimination playoff game, he was no different. Fiatarone drove in four runs on three hits to lead Waterbury past the Hamden Miners 10-6 on Sunday. Fiatarone hit a home run to right field in the first scoring two, doubled in the second scoring one, and doubled in the third scoring one.

Waterbury got on the board in the top of the first inning after Fiatarone homered to right field, scoring two runs, and Maico Cardona singled, scoring one run.

The Silverbacks then scored six runs on seven hits in the top of the second inning. Kevin Cestari hit a solo home run to center field, Fiatarone doubled, scoring one run, Zach Drewry singled, scoring two runs, Cardona doubled, scoring one run, and Pierce Cowles singled, scoring one run.

Waterbury Silverbacks added one run in the third after Fiatarone doubled to left field.

Casey Sexton earned the win for the Silverbacks. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and six runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two.

Waterbury collected 13 hits in the game. Cowles and Cardona each collected multiple hits for Waterbury Silverbacks.
