Waterbury Silverbacks Defeats Riptide On Back Of Clutch Display From Michael Fiatarone

Waterbury got on the board in the first inning after Zach Drewry homered to left field, scoring three runs. The Silverbacks added one run in the second. Fiatarone hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 4-1.

The Riptide flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 7-6.

A home run to left field by Mike Siano gave Waterbury the lead, 8-7, in the top of the fifth.

The Riptide scored on a passed ball, which helped them tie the game at eight in the bottom of the sixth.

A clutch solo home run to right field by Fiatarone gave the Waterbury Silverbacks the lead, 9-8, in the top of the seventh. A lead they would narrowly hold onto.

Max Krom earned the win for Waterbury Silverbacks. The hurler allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out seven and walking none. Logan Pulitano stepped on the bump first for the Waterbury Silverbacks. The hurler gave up five hits and seven runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking five. #20 stepped on the mound first for Riptide Over 18. The pitcher allowed nine hits and nine runs (eight earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.

The Waterbury Silverbacks accumulated nine hits in the game. Siano collected two hits for Waterbury Silverbacks in three at bats.

Michael Fiatarone drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Waterbury Silverbacks past the Meriden Riptide 9-8 on Monday. Fiatarone singled in the fourth scoring two, hit a sacrifice fly in the second scoring one, and hit a solo home run to right field in the seventh scoring one.

Bats blistered as Waterbury collected nine hits and the Riptide tallied six in the high-scoring game.
