The Silverbacks fell to the Riptide 7-0 Sunday evening after remaining in a scoreless contest for most of the game before surrendering seven runs across two of the final three innings.

Braydon Sturino started the game for Waterbury and delivered 4 β…“ innings of work. He shut down the Meriden bats for the first four frames before allowing two runs (one earned) in his last inning of work. Junior Bryce Isquith entered in relief along with freshman Kyle Parker.

The Silverbacks bats never had an opportunity to truly get comfortable as the Riptide starter Aiden Carabollo pitched all seven innings in his shutout victory, only allowing six baserunners on just two hits. The pair of freshmen in Parker and shortstop Nico D’Andrea picked up the baseknocks on the day for Waterbury.

Parker quietly had himself a solid day with his two total bases, a shutout inning in the seventh and a stolen base, a great sign for the young utility option.

Waterbury aims to put this loss behind them as they quickly pivot to a road matchup against the Southington Black Knights on Monday evening.
