Waterbury Shut Out by Hamden in Thursday Evening Matchup

It was a game that saw Hamden control from the very start as Waterbury couldn’t keep up in their 5-0 loss on Thursday evening. Miners starter Joshua Santiago went the distance as he threw a complete game shutout while punching out 14 Silverback hitters.
The Waterbury pitching staff did its job to keep Hamden at bay over the course of the game, with Patrick McKenzie starting with three innings of three run ball (one earned runs) with three strikeouts. Bryce Isquith added three innings of relief, allowing three hits and one run. Joe Fasano also threw an inning without allowing an earned run.
It was a tough day for Waterbury hitters facing Santiago. Leadoff hitter and shortstop Zaid Vohra tallied the only hit on the day for the Silverbacks with his base hit in the sixth inning. Tyler Dammling was the only Waterbury hitter to reach base twice as he drew two walks in the contest. Dammling and Vohra also each stole a base in the loss.
Waterbury will look to turn the tables as they gear up for a four game road trip, starting with facing West Haven on Sunday evening.
