Waterbury Offense Fizzles Out in Loss to Meriden

The Silverbacks first game back from the All-Star break saw the team drop their matchup against the Riptide by a final score of 6-1. Waterbury’s first run didn’t come until their sixth inning at the plate.
The duo of Kevin Cestari and Hayden Klyver did the work on the mound for Waterbury in the loss. Cestari tossed three innings, allowing three hits and three runs (one earned) while punching out three. Kylver threw three innings of his own, surrendering three earned runs while also striking out three. Cestari also added the Silverbacks only extra base hit with his double in the sixth inning.
The lone Waterbury run was scored after Brayden Whipple recorded an RBI after a fielder’s choice, allowing Cestari to score. Zaid Vohra was the only Silverback to reach base twice as he walked twice. The lineup struck out a combined 12 times.
The loss wraps up a four game road trip as Waterbury will return home tomorrow to host Bridgeport in the evening.
