The Silverbacks dropped their matchup to the Sluggers Wednesday night by a final score of 4-2. The game didn’t see its first run scored until the top of the fifth inning.

Junior starter Patrick Mckenzie delivered three quality innings for Waterbury, striking out four while only allowing two hits. Bryce Isquith surrendered two runs in his two innings of work while striking out three. Tyler Egan and Chase Curran each logged relief appearances for the team.

After Silk City scored two in the top of the fifth inning, Waterbury cut the deficit in half after Curran drove home Nolan Risedorf with an RBI single. The Sluggers added another two in the top of the final frame as the Silverbacks added only one more run to their tally after Risedorf collected an RBI single of his own.

Risedorf also stole a base in the contest, capping off a great day all around within the diamond. Sophomore Joe Fasano recorded a double and added a stolen base himself.

The Silverbacks will look to flush this one as they prepare for a matchup against the Western Massachusetts Pioneers in Wilbraham, MA tomorrow.
