The Silverbacks got themselves back into the win column Tuesday night after defeating the Riptide 8-2. Following their loss to the same opponent this past Sunday, Waterbury had better fortunes this time around.

Threatening immediately in the first inning, first baseman Alex Teixeira grounded into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded to bring home freshman Miles Perez for the first run of the game. This was the first of Teixeira’s three RBIs on the day.

Meriden tied the game up in the third inning as this was the only run freshman starter Kevin Cestari gave up in his six innings of work. In the bottom of the fourth, Cestari drove in the go ahead run with an RBI double to left. Center fielder Aaron Morice drove in the team’s third run with an RBI single as Waterbury wouldn’t look back.

Two more runs in the fifth via an Alex Teixeira single and three more runs in the sixth extended the Silverback’s lead to 8-1. Sophomore Chase Curran finished the game in his inning of work allowing one run to Meriden.

Waterbury looks to keep winning habits as they hit the road to face the Weston Barons Wednesday night.
