Waterbury Blanked on the Road in Pitching Duel

If you enjoy a good pitching matchup, Tuesday’s game between Waterbury and Bridgeport was the game for you. In a game with a combined four hits, six walks and a single run scored, it was the Barnums who grabbed the 1-0 win over the Silverbacks.
Waterbury senior starter Hayden Klyver pitched four innings while allowing just two hits and one unearned run. He walked a batter and struck out five. Tyler Egan and Andrew Tyszka each tossed a scoreless inning of relief for Waterbury.
Jimmy Muthersbaugh, the starter for Bridgeport, pitched a complete game shutout while striking out eight and walking none. He surrendered just two hits while on the mound, as Kyle Parker and Liam Kieley were the only two Silverbacks to notch hits.
The loss could sting for Waterbury as Bridgeport (and the games) only run came via an error in the field in the bottom of the third. Despite trailing by a single run for the second half of the game, the Silverbacks were unable to get the ball rolling on offense.
Waterbury will look to shake off the tough loss as they prepare for another road game on Wednesday evening, this time visiting the Danbury Lakehounds.
