The Silk City Sluggers opened the scoring in the first after Jayden Maynard singled, scoring one run. Then the Waterbury Silverbacks captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first when an error scored two runs, and Dario Sosa singled, scoring the run.
The Sluggers then tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a single by Jack Lomot, and a ground out by Luis Collazo.
A single by Michael Fiatarone gave the Silverbacks the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the second. It unfortunately would not last as there was much more scoring in this game.
In the top of the seventh inning, The Sluggers went back into the lead after Alyis Godbee walked, PJ Ortiz walked, Lomot singled , Collazo was struck by a pitch, and Dylan Jackson grounded out, each scoring one run.
Braydon Sturino stepped on the hill first for the Silverbacks. He had a tough go, allowing seven hits and four runs, three earned, over four and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Andrew Lasko took the loss for the Silverbacks. The reliever also had a rough go over two-thirds of an inning, surrendering five runs on three hits, striking out one and walking four.
Fiatarone drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Silverbacks with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-1 on the day. Eddie Garabito, James Marino, Fiatarone, Cam Willis, Maico Cardona, David Braun, Devin Kulas, and Sosa each collected one hit for the Silverbacks.
Next up for the Silverbacks is a game at Western Mass Pioneers on Thursday.
