After a tough outing in Wednesday’s game against West Haven, Waterbury bounced back Thursday evening with a 7-1 win over the Danbury Lakehounds. The offense clicked after a quiet outing the game before.

Sophomore backstop Joe Fasano got the first two Waterbury runs across the board with his RBI single to left field, bringing home shortstop Miles Perez and right fielder Kyle Parker for an early 2-0 lead.

Just an inning later, left fielder Tyler Egan scored on an error following Tulley Szost’s steal of second base. The same at-bat saw Perez knock in Szost with an RBI single to right field to extend Waterbury’s lead to 4-0.

Junior starter Patrick McKenzie kept the Lakehound bats tamed as he threw 3 ⅔ innings of one run ball (zero earned) while allowing two hits and striking out seven. Junior Bryce Isquith brought 3 ⅓ innings of shutout relief in the victory.

Sophomore third baseman Zaid Vohra drove in another run in the third inning with his RBI double, with center fielder Nolan Risedorf scoring. In the sixth inning, two more insurance runs were added by a pinch-hit double from Kole Irizarry and him scoring following a wild pitch.

The Silverbacks have two off days before a road matchup against the Hamden Miners Sunday night.
