The Trumbull native, Scott Gell, is taking the next step in his collegiate baseball journey. The Stony Brook University catcher has officially signed with the Bristol Blues of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), one of the most competitive summer leagues in the country.
Gell is coming off a sophomore season for the Seawolves, appearing in 28 games and making 16 starts behind the plate and as a designated hitter. He batted .273 (18-for-66) with three home runs, 14 RBIs, four doubles, and 18 runs scored, while adding seven walks and three stolen bases.
“Scott came to us as a graduating High School player his first season in the CCBL,” said Tim Binkoski, Owner of the Waterbury Silverbacks. “His work ethic and leadership capabilities will help him make an impact at that level. Now he gets to face some of the country’s top college talent. We couldn’t be more excited for him.”
