Sabercats Win in Convincing Fashion, Waterbury Season Comes to a Close

Waterbury got the upper hand in the two teams first playoff matchup just three days prior, however, Simsbury got the last laugh in their 15-3 win Sunday evening. The loss ended the Silverbacks 2026 campaign.
It was all Sabercats from the beginning. A combined ten runs in the first two frames gave them a comfortable 10-0 lead as it was simply too much for the Silverbacks to recover from that early. Branden Macdougall only lasted an inning as the starter before the Waterbury bullpen took control of the rest of the game.
The offense couldn’t muster up much firepower besides the fourth inning, which saw Aaron Morice record an RBI triple and Joe Fasano tally an RBI after a sacrifice fly. The third run came in the fifth inning after Miles Perez recorded an RBI after a sacrifice fly of his own. The lineup combined for just two hits on the day as the Simsbury pitching ruled.
With the loss Sunday evening, the 2026 Waterbury Silverbacks season has come to an end. Despite the tough loss, the season itself should not be ignored; in what was projected to be a season focused on development and establishing a core for the future turned into one of the most intriguing stories in the CCBL following their deep playoff run.
