Runs Hard To Come By as The Waterbury Silverbacks Win Versus The GoldStar Generals to Stave off Elimination in CCBL Playoffs

Both teams were strong on the mound on Saturday, but the Waterbury Silverbacks defeated the GoldStar Generals 2-0. Kevin Cestari started the game for Waterbury Silverbacks and pitched 5 innings strong.

A single by Colin Gevry put Waterbury Silverbacks on the board in the top of the second.

Cestari earned the win for the Silverbacks. The starter allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Zach Worzel pitched two innings of scoreless ball for Waterbury Silverbacks in relief. The hurler gave up two hits, striking out three and walking none. This strong pitching was exactly what Waterbury needed. It had been elusive this season but came through when they needed it most.

Michael Fiatarone, Gevry, James Marino, and Kyle Takahashi each collected one hit for Waterbury Silverbacks. Fiatarone and Gevry each drove in a run for Waterbury Silverbacks.

Waterbury will face the Hamden Miners in the next round.
