Former Silverback Scott Gell Signs with San Francisco Giants Organization

The Waterbury Silverbacks are proud to congratulate former catcher Scott Gell on signing with the San Francisco Giants as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 MLB Draft, marking the beginning of his professional baseball career.
A Trumbull native, Gell spent part of his summer with the Waterbury Silverbacks before continuing his development at Stony Brook University. During his sophomore season, he appeared in 28 games, making 16 starts behind the plate and at designated hitter while batting .273 with three home runs, 14 RBIs, four doubles, 18 runs scored, seven walks, and three stolen bases. Those performances helped earn him an opportunity with the Bristol Blues of the NECBL before ultimately reaching professional baseball.
His signing with the Giants follows an outstanding collegiate career at Stony Brook, where he developed into one of the Seawolves' most consistent contributors and caught the attention of professional scouts. Signing with one of Major League Baseball's most storied organizations is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance Gell has displayed throughout his baseball journey.
