After a strong summer on the mound for the Waterbury Silverbacks, right-handed pitcher Alexander Kasbarian is moving up to the next level. The Newtown, Connecticut native has signed with the Bristol Blues of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), one of the premier summer leagues in the country.

Kasbarian was a key arm for the Silverbacks this summer, making four appearances and starting three games. Over 15 innings, he faced 64 batters and allowed just 14 hits, 3 earned runs, and 2 walks, while striking out 19. He finished his time in Waterbury with an impressive 1.80 ERA, 1.067 WHIP, and a .233 opponent batting average — showing command and poise throughout each outing.

Kasbarian is coming off his collegiate season at Central Connecticut State University, where he logged 10.1 innings for the Blue Devils. He allowed 10 hits and 7 runs while striking out 4 and holding opponents to a .256 batting average.

Now headed to the NECBL, Kasbarian will continue to build on his development and compete against top-level talent with the Bristol Blues.

“We’ve seen Alex take a big step forward this summer,” said Silverbacks owner Tim Binkoski. “He attacked the zone, kept hitters off balance, and brought great energy every time he took the mound. We’re excited to see him earn this opportunity in Bristol.”
